I'm in and broke...

One final click on REGISTER and it's done. A simple mouse movement to sign my life away for a year.  And I'm not alone...you might want to skip over the next sentence if you are easily offended: "F**k, sh*t, f**k, sh*t, what have I just done?"  That was the initial reply from my brother.

Miller simply went for "ouch!"

Baldy clearly had a more enthusiastic response: "Let's smash it proper good. Can't wait."

That was last night. This morning I woke up thinking heck, did I really sign up to an Ironman last night?

Yes, of course I did! Ironman Austria to be precise on June 30th 2013.

I'm really excited, but eek! indeed. It's going to be one hell of a commitment over the next 12 months.  I'm genuinely chuffed that I'll be doing it with two great guys who helped me around Rapperswil-Jona 70.3 2012 and even more delighted that my brother will be on the start line too.  That will be something special.  It's also comforting to know it wasn't just me who got the mildly insane gene.

And while we have paid a small fortune to inflict 12 months of torture on ourselves, my boyfriend went for the less insane option and registered to be a volunteer.  He'll get to experience it all first hand, just without the pain or the medal at the end.

So the countdown begins. Yes I'm nervous, but I know it is achievable and I am genuinely looking forward to the next year ahead.  I'm not so happy about the fact I will be in the F30-35 category by then, but that's another issue altogether...

This is part of a series of challenges I’m doing to raise £3,000 for charity before I’m 30.
